bathroom design tips
365 Developments can offer you a FREE design service for your bathroom and a high quality supply and fit service. We source our bathrooms at a trade and do not charge the high margins of high street retailers. Before embarking on bathroom design please consider the following tips:
1. The Good News
2. Not Always Possible
3. Watch The Grout
4. Plans Don't Tell The Whole Story
Plans can be very deceiving and you should always measure distances in the proposed bathroom area. Bathrooms that look generous on an A4 plan can seem cramped when actually marked out on the floor of an empty kitchen.
5. Doors & Windows
A bathroom layout can be radically improved by altering the position of entrance doors and windows. The cost of these works can be a lot less than you think.
6. One House, Two Different Types Of Shower
Most houses now have showers that draw their hot water from the central heating system. When we are fitting out a couple of bathrooms in a house we normally recommend that one bathroom is independent of the boiler and is fitted with an electric shower. The reason is that spares for modern central heating boilers sometimes have to be ordered so there can be a few days when you might otherwise be without shower facilities.
7. Storage
Thought should be given to storage in a bathroom and often clients resolve this challenge with a choice of fitted units. You can innovate and in the past we have created storage space in halls outside of a bathroom where it was important to maintain a minimalist look. We have also made great use of storage space in stud walls to store all bathroom paraphernalia.
8. Wet Rooms
If you have a wooden floor then a wet room can be a problem as shrinkage in timbers can cause leaks. Our recommendation is to consider a wet area for the shower rather than a wet room.
